Following the Global Grants Program’s successful partnership with Paraguay in the development of previous dashboards, the Data Impact Program expanded its support with the development of a dynamic platform. The platform allows for the visualization of strategic indicators on injuries from external causes and violence, facilitating monitoring and analysis of the information at national and regional levels.
The interactive dashboard features a new process for automating the update of morbidity data, disaggregated by sex, geographic location and age group, directly from the health information system. The dashboard currently presents data on indicators for morbidity from 2020 to 2026 and for deaths through 2023.
“This is a tool for monitoring data on external injuries in real time, and it serves as another indicator from the Ministry of Health to evaluate the availability of data at subnational levels within the framework of health digitization,” said Jose Ortellado, the Vice Minister of Administration and Health Surveillance.
Felicia Cañete, the Director of NCDs, emphasized that this initiative reflects coordinated work among institutions like the Health Surveillance Directorate and the General Directorate of Strategic Health Information, and a commitment to generating strategic information for the development of more efficient and equitable public policies, such as monitoring the number of injuries from motor vehicle crashes by subnational levels.
The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPyBS) plans to use this tool as a model for the development of dashboards for other health priorities.
DIP provided training to the entire informatics team of the NCD directorate to strengthen the dashboard’s sustainability and will continue supporting its use.
