In June 2025, the Public Health Bulletin (PHB) Technical Resource Hub officially launched, marking a major step in supporting national PHBs. The PHB Technical Resource Hub consolidates the experience gained and resources developed in collaboration with ministries of health (MOHs) and national public health institutes (NPHIs) across multiple countries, making them freely accessible for any government interested in establishing or strengthening a national public health bulletin.

The PHB Technical Resource Hub supports governments working to disseminate surveillance findings, strengthen transparency, institutionalize editorial quality and boost the utility of public health bulletins. It draws on a broad base of content: case studies from national PHBs, templates and guidance on editorial workflows, peer-review processes, website design, indexing strategy, translation and capacity-building materials, and more. This collective knowledge is curated on the website.

By pooling these resources, the PHB Technical Resource Hub addresses a critical gap: many governments have strong surveillance or data-reporting systems but lack the infrastructure, standards or editorial capacity to produce a sustained national PHB that informs policy, engages professionals, and reaches wider audiences. The PHB Technical Resource Hub offers a one-stop entry point for best practices, standard operating procedures, templates, training modules and example outputs.

Governments that utilize these resources are better equipped to launch or upgrade national bulletins with greater efficiency, quality and impact. Beyond technical tools, the PHB Technical Resource Hub fosters capacity building and a culture of continuous improvement. The availability of training materials enables MOHs/NPHIs to scaleup writing and editorial skills, strengthening the link between surveillance data and actionable policy. Over time, this is expected to translate intonational bulletins that are more timely, widely used by policy-makers, cited by professional audiences, and linked to decision-making processes.

Looking ahead, the PHB Technical Resource Hub’s goal is to catalyze the establishment of PHBs in countries that currently lack them, support the enhancement of existing ones, and promote peer learning across countries. In doing so, the PHB Technical Resource Hub seeks to play a foundational role in strengthening public-health communication infrastructure, improving transparency of surveillance data, and helping to ensure that data flows more consistently into policy and practice.
